No we never give your pet any medication before or during the
procedure. From a behavioral standpoint we are able to complete
roughly 95% of dogs and 80-85% of cats.
Does my animal need to be vaccinated?
Yes, rabies vaccination is required.
My dog is aggressive and has a history of biting, can we try
this?
If your dog or cat is aggressive with humans, for the safety of
our technicians, unfortunately no we can’t.
When should my dog or cat have their first teeth cleaning?
We believe your pet should come in between 1 and 1.5 years of age
for assessment. We want you to treat your pets teeth just like
your own. We do not want plaque and tartar to accumulate and form
heavy thick discolored calculus. We want their teeth to look as
clean and white as our own all the time. The cleaner your pets
teeth remain throughout their life, the healthier they stand to
be.
Is this legal?
Yes this is considered a veterinary medical procedure in the state
of California. It must ONLY be performed with direct veterinarian
supervision in approved permitted facilities. People coming to
your house without veterinarians is ILLEGAL. Please contact the
California Veterinary Medical Board to report such activity.
Is this procedure painful?
Neither the cleaning process nor the positioning used for the
cleaning elicits any pain. Our hygienists are educated in basic
anatomy and are careful to always maintain comfortable posture
positions. Your pet is always placed on an orthopedic mat during
the procedure.
Do you clean above and below the gumline?
Yes each and every time. We clean all surfaces of all teeth.
Why does my vet say this can not be as effective as an
anesthetic dental?
Our guess is your vet has most likely never seen a properly
performed anesthesia free dental cleaning first hand. You and I
are not put under general anesthesia to have our teeth cleaned. If
we can safely and comfortably restrain any animal and access their
entire mouth, why must we anesthetize them for routine dental
cleaning? We welcome any and all veterinarians to either come see
our service first hand or invite us for a demonstration at their
facility. We will make you a believer.
Can you perform dental X-rays without anesthesia?
Currently, no but we are working on developing a system.
Unfortunately not all veterinary hospitals that only offer
anesthetic dental cleaning, perform anesthetized dental x-rays.
This is very unfortunate and we believe defeats the ultimate
benefit of anesthetic dentistry. If we determine your pets
requires anesthetic intervention prior to admittance into our
anesthesia free program, please make sure you seek a veterinary
facility that will perform dental X-rays while your pet is under.
Our anesthetic dental clinics opening in early 2019 WILL always
perform dental X-rays!
