Christopher Thomas, DVM

        Primary Clinician and Proprietor

Dr. Christopher Thomas is a 2007 graduate of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, Chris moved to Los Angeles to pursue a small animal rotating internship. Having grown up in the cold climates of Chicago, the clement weather of Los Angeles took hold and has kept him here ever since. Chris has been involved in various aspects of veterinary medicine for over 15 years and has a diverse background of experience. He is a devote believer in animal rescue and has two-rescued American Staffordshire terriers, Holstein and Shrimpie. Chris’s veterinary medical license is current and includes mobile practice rights.

WHERE OUR PHILOSOPHY WAS BORN

Anesthetic free dental cleaning or non-anesthetic dental (NAD) cleaning was foreign to Chris until by chance he was asked to help oversee a NAD at a neighborhood animal daycare facility. The benefits of the service quickly became apparent and along with the recent regulation changes set forth by the California Veterinary Medical Board that state all dental procedures including prophylactic dental cleaning is the practice of medicine and mandates it is ONLY to be performed strictly under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian, the chance to change the landscape of this service became clear. Unfortunately having followed the work of the numerous laymen who are currently saturating the field, he found many animals with various stages of advanced periodontal disease. These animals had been receiving “dental cleanings” monthly for months if not years as part of so called “maintenance plans.” In reality these animals were receiving anything but maintenance and will ultimately lose many of their teeth, likely have extensive damage to their remaining teeth and gums, possibly bone loss in the upper and lower jaws as well as possible severe secondary systemic diseases caused by oral bacteria shedding into the blood stream. The fact that so many animals were put at risk and their loving owners were being duped into believing they were actually benefitting their animals by avoiding anesthesia in those cases, moved Chris to strive to rebrand anesthetic free dental cleaning and exploit for the animals, the true benefits of the service.

THIS SERVICE IS NOT FOR ALL ANIMALS AND IS NOT A REPLACEMENT FOR ANESTHETIC DENTISTRY WHEN REQUIRED FOR TREATMENT OF ADVANCED DENTAL DISEASE. SEE “SERVICES” FOR MORE INFORMATION ON DISQUALIFYING MEDICAL AND BEHAVORIAL ISSUES.
